Sneak Preview of Youthbeat! Article
A New Era Rocks Taman Jurong

Kudos to the success of the T-Net Club Annual Gathering 2007!

Riding on the success of the T-Net Club Gathering and Adventure Roadshow 2006, the Taman Jurong T-Net Club Management Committee (TCMC) is proud to organize the T-Net Club Annual Gathering 2007 once again this year with the theme of ‘Creating Budding Talents through Social Entrepreneurship’.

Laughter and excitement filled up the atmosphere in this year’s event. Held on 10 June 2007 at Taman Jurong Community Club, the event received a crowd of more than 400 young and the young-at-heart participants from the T-Net Club Network and the Taman Jurong estate. The main highlight of the event is the Taman Jurong First Aid & Rescue Competition which aims to educate the teenagers on the knowledge of First Aid and Rescue during cases of emergency.

The Guest-of-Honor for the event is Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education & 2nd Minister for Finance and MP for Jurong GRC.

“Chiong arh!” 8 teams from the various T-Net Clubs race against time and underwent the four Telematch stations in the competition. Extinguishing Fire, Arm Bandaging, Human Crutch and Sketcher Transportation are some of the tasks that the teens went through. The first-ever competition held under the T-Net Club Network. This competition is co-organised by the Taman Jurong Adventure Club (TJAC), Taman Jurong Civil Defence Executive Committee (CDEC) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

The winners for the Taman Jurong First Aid & Rescue Competition are as follows:

Champion: T-Net Club @ Ang Mo Kio
1st Runner-up: T-Net Club @ Sembawang
2nd Runner-up: T-Net Club @ Geylang West

The half-day event from 11.00am to 2.00pm was fun-filled with other events such as Entrepreneurs Bazaar, Game Stalls, Stage Performances and entertainment activities to cater to the T-net club members and residents. Cotton candies and Early-birds’ goodie bags were the main attractions for those teenagers. For those who wanted more than that, A total of 12 Entrepreneur Bazaars were also present where participants could take their time to browse through the items on sale – all at bargain prices.

The Taman Jurong TCMC aims to provide teenagers with an ultimate and unique experience each year. More innovative and brilliant programs are on the move to attract our members. So, Stay Tune!

Bringing liquids onto the plane?

I find this article pretty interesting so I decided to cut it out and post it to all the adventurers here. If you have decided to travel overseas for expeditions or community service trip, be sure that you cannot bring more than a certain volume of liquids (capacity not more than 1 litre) onto the plane unless you kept in your check-in luggage. Drinking water included!!!

Enjoy the article and post your comments. =)
